On April 3rd, 2026, we returned to the orphanage for the second time. Unlike our first visit, this one felt more personal. We came not just to visit, but to spend the evening together. We were welcomed with warm smiles that instantly made us feel at ease. The girls showed us around the orphanage and shared the spaces they take care of every day. What stood out the most was how independent they are. They manage a hydroponic garden and run a small water business to support their daily needs.

They brought us into their rooms and told us about their routines and the things they’ve been working on. That afternoon, they were sewing curtains together. It was simple, but you could feel the care they put into it. As it got later, we moved into the kitchen and started cooking dinner together. It turned into one of those moments that wasn’t planned but just happened. We talked, laughed, and helped each other out. At some point, it stopped feeling like a visit and felt more like we were just there with them.

That night, they invited us to join their full moon ceremony. In Bali, the full moon, or Purnama, is an important time for prayer and reflection. It’s believed to be a moment when spiritual energy is stronger, and people come together to give thanks, make offerings, and reconnect with themselves and with something bigger. Being part of it felt calm and grounding. Sitting there under the moonlight, everything slowed down. It’s hard to explain, but it stayed with us.
When we left, we kept thinking about how much has changed since January. They now have seven more children in their care. It made us realize how quickly their needs grow, and how much it takes to support them every day. If you feel connected to their story and want to help, even in a small way, it would mean a lot to them.
